WebPasties Newsletter

Hey Everybody,

This email is to let you know about some of the cool new updates to my WebPasties service.

Event Calendar Enhancements

In case you haven't checked out the WebPasties Event Calendar pastie lately, I urge you to look at it again. As promised, the Event Calendar can now be displayed as a big wall calendar. What makes this big calendar special though is not that it is big but that it is dynamic. The big calendar can be navigated without reloading the Web browser (Ajax), and is incredibly fast. And like the vertical calendar, the big calendar's styles and colors are completely configurable. This means you can color coordinate it to match exactly with your website.

I've been focusing on open specifications too. You can now export your event calendar as an RSS feed or to iCal. This permits easy access to your calendar events through various applications and devices including the  Apple iPod,    the Sony Playstation Portable, and MythTV.

Even with these new features, there are still  big plans in store for the Event Calendar pastie. One of these plans is to add support for sharing calendars through Ray Ozzie's SSE protocol.  Another plan is to create a  Yahoo Widget component which will permit you to display your calendar on your computer's desktop.

RSS Ticker Enhancements

The WebPasties RSS Ticker pastie now has improved padding and font customization support. You can now modify the following properties for the RSS ticker:

  1. Title Font Face
  2. Text Font Face
  3. Title Bold/Normal
  4. News Item Padding
  5. News Text  Padding

In addition, the RSS Ticker now supports a new horizontal slide effect which works on all the major Web browsers.

Podcast RSS Enhancements

In addition to supporting the new video file formats, the Podcast RSS pastie can now automatically detect the size of your media files. This can save you a lot of time that would otherwise be spent hand editing.

But what sets WebPasties Podcast RSS apart from the competition is subscriber tracking. Improved subscriber tracking means that about 30 new client browsers and spiders are now recognized, and you can now see what the most popular countries your subscribers are coming from. Also, you can now take advantage of Apple's new parental advisory Clean  attribute which came out about two week ago .

With the new Podcast RSS redirect feature, you are no longer locked in to WebPasties for your podcast feed. Anytime you want to move to another service, simply set the redirect and you are done. No worries about disruption in service to your current subscribers. I know this goes against the smart business practice of trying to lock in customers, but I would rather my customers stay with WebPasties because they like my service rather than because they cannot leave without upsetting their subscribers.

Form-Mail Enhancements

The Form-Mail pastie now lets you route form-mails to different recipients based on the visitor to your website's subject selection. Also, you can now configure your Form-Mail pastie to accept multiple attachments

By far, the majority of the new features that have gone into the Form-Mail pastie has been look and feel related.  I've added a multitude of style adjustments related to the form's frame, borders, fonts, its buttons, and texboxes. You can even specify a fade-in transition effect for your form-mail.

Event Signup Enhancements

I have added the following new features to the Event Signup pastie
  1. You can specify that the signup list be flat without a scrolling effect.
  2. You can require that guests provide their email address before signing up.
  3. You can close your Event Signup so that signups are not permitted.
  4. Major UI improvements with the Signups window including a printable view.

Visit Tracker Enhancements

The Visit Tracker pastie now uses a more current country database. In addition, I have added new browser clients to the list of those that are recognized. This includes the Sony Playstation Portable.

In the near future, I plan to create a Firefox extension that you can configure to make it so that a chime sounds each time a person visits a page with a visit tracker.

What's Next ?

I am currently working on a Guest-book pastie. This pastie will permit you to let visitor of your sites post feedback on your site. I am confident that this will be the best looking guest-book  on the market today. I will be taking advantage of some of the latest technology that will ensure that it be really breathtaking.

Send me your feedback
As always, I welcome any and all feedback. Most of the features you see above have come as a direct result of requests by people like you.

Sincerely,

Bill Bercik
